Why we(Indians) gotta be so rude?

We, Indians, are rude to each other and that is a fact which we can deny, we can hide but we can't escape. Indians in India are rude to each other on a day to day basis. I am using the phrase 'Indians in India' on purpose based on my experiences. Apart from the fact that we all live in India, our rudeness has got nothing to do with our caste, age, gender, education level, or economic status.

My blog turned 1 😀

It's time to celebrate as my blog turned one in March (m a lil late for the celebratory post but read on to know why). Thank you my dear readers who showed their love for Rashi's space over the past one year.

I started the blog with a rant about 'why I think I should write' and an year later I am still writing with all the passion for writing I felt when I wrote my first blog post. I needed all the encouragement and love you shared with me through your readings  and insights. Since I am enjoying writing so much that for each posted blog I have another draft saved, I can safely guess that I will continue to write so I can continue to receive your love.

And btw there's another big reason for celebration in my life that I want to share with you. In a few of my posts last year I had mentioned that my life changed a lot in last year and I want to tell you about the reason later. The reason was my first pregnancy and last month I became the mother of the most adorable baby boy on earth. I know how typical that emotion is amongst mothers and I am happily joining the brigade saying that he is the most adorable 😀. My husband and I are still learning the nitty gritties of new parenthood and will continue to learn throughout our lives I guess. With each new phase of life that our baby enters, we will be learning something new. We are living it and loving it. Life doesn't get any better than a toothless grin in the middle of a long day.

We have our hands full even with all the help in the world and that's why I am unable to share the entire experience with you in detail. I want to and will try to write soon. Thanks again for the love you have shown for my blog. Keep visiting!!

Being a housewife 😃

A housewife is a relatively new acquired title for me. :) It has been more than a quarter since I quit my job and have been at my home full time. And I mean it when I say full time - no vacations, no outings, no partying. My health kept me home bound all this while. In my new year post, I had mentioned that this transition from working to staying at home was one of the scariest things I have ever done. It had only been a month back then but I was coping well.

Goodbye 2015 and Welcome 2016 :) :) :)

2016 is here and so are all the good things associated with a new year. Time to make a fresh start with new plans, new hopes, new ambitions, renewed energy and a truckload of gratefulness. To start my new year on a fresh note, I want to first say goodbye to 2015 and thank God for all the good things associated with the year gone by.

2015 was special for me as it made me mature more than ever (or at least so I would like to think ;) ). I have been a very career oriented person and cannot think of any other year in my life when I spent an entire year cherishing my personal time and family life. Most of the years were a good balance of both family and career. In fact sometimes in the past years, I have also put my personal life on a back burner to invest in my career and I did so with a lot of support from my family members.
But 2015 was different and I didn't like some parts when I was living them. In retrospect, each month marked a special milestone in my personal life. There are some moments that I want to share with you. I have learnt valuable life lessons from these moments that deserve a special mention here.

Bajirao Mastani - Stunning movie!!

Bajirao Mastani is one of the very few good Hindi movies that released in 2015. It is a Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie and has fully lived up to my expectations. I went in expecting grandeur, romance, beauty, rich dialogues, a little bit of historical touch and the movie delivered. You can call me an ignorant soul but I had no idea who Bajirao was before I saw the movie.

I learned about the importance of this larger than life person in Indian history through this movie. History books don't actually have a lesson on him. So thanks to Sanjay Leela Bhansali, a lot of other people like me got to know about Bajirao and about Mastani as well.

Now for the past few days, my Facebook wall has seen consistent outrage about the movie from a certain section of people who happen to know Maratha history really well. All I hear from them is that the movie didn't do justice to Bajirao's role in Indian history. My question to them is:

Anne Frank - A young girl in the times of war!!

I recently finished reading the Diary of Anne Frank. It is a compilation of letters written by a girl to her diary during the second world war. She was from a Jewish family and the entire family lived in a secret annex for about two years to hide from Nazi atrocities. She started writing this diary when she was 13 until the age of 15 after which the family was captured and sent to concentration camps. This book has touched me so deeply for a lot of reasons.

Festive Season !!

Like the final minutes of a YashRaj movie, last quarter of every year is filled with emotions, enthusiasm, hopefulness and lots of family time. It is my favorite time of the year. All the other months exist just to set the stage to welcome these final months. No, wait, not all the other months!! Holi month is important and my b'day month and my anniversary month and my husband's b'day month and family members' b'day month..... alright I guess the other months are important too!! But they aren't festive enough :P
